As the year comes to a close, I want to share a big thank you to our fundraising community for the honor of being AFP Advancement Northwest’s board president this year. I sat down to write an upbeat, end of year message and, honestly…this has been a hard year to be a parent, a friend, a colleague, a neighbor, and especially hard to be a fundraiser!
Through the challenges, I’ve found great joy in the opportunity to learn from our AFP fundraising community this year. Fundraisers, you are resilient. You are creative. You are innovative. You’re not afraid to tackle inequities that exist within our profession and within your organizations. We still have a long way to go, but fundraising looks different today—more honest, more community-centered, more equitable—than it did a year ago. And it’s because of you!
Whether it was at our Ethics Summit in January to grapple with ethical issues raised by the pandemic, in community with Edgar Villanueva at our Annual Conference, in a small break-out space at one of our Coffee and Conversations, or a few weeks ago at our annual National Philanthropy Day, we hope you too have found Advancement Northwest to be a place for you to learn from and be inspired by your fellow fundraisers.
Thank you for being a part of our AFP Advancement Northwest community. We look forward to seeing you again soon!
