Kari Dasher has served in the nonprofit sector for more than 24 years. She is currently a
Senior Consultant with The Ostara Group, where she provides counsel to nonprofit
organizations and leads a team of consultants focused on strategy and support for
individual giving, major gifts, interim staffing, capital campaigns, coaching and planning.
She is passionate about addressing systemic organizational challenges that undermine
fund development and programmatic efficacy and does so by way of board and
organizational development, strategic/succession planning and coaching work with
nonprofit leaders.

Prior to becoming a full-time consultant, she was Director of Development at YWCA Seattle |

and raised more than $11M in revenue for YWCA’s programs. While at YWCA, Kari
deepened her work in diversity, equity and inclusion and was part of a Robin DiAngelo-led
cohort of leaders exploring whiteness and institutional racism, partnering with members to
brainstorm and recommend equitable solutions within the nonprofit context.
Kari serves on the board of AFP Advancement Northwest. She is currently the Chair of
Community Partnerships and a member of the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Access
Committee. She is also an AFP IHQ-certified Master Trainer, serves on IHQ’s IDEA

which broke ground on a women’s reproductive health hospital in Soroti, Uganda in March
2018. Her passions beyond the nonprofit sector include being a stepmom to four young
adults, participating in outdoor sports, traveling and reading about emerging infectious
disease.
