University of Washington School of Nursing

Abbey joined the University of Washington (UW) School of Nursing as Assistant Dean for Advancement
in April 2020. Prior to this role, Abbey served as a senior director for philanthropy at UW Medicine
Advancement, where she managed a team of frontline fundraisers and helped to secure philanthropic
support for the UW Medicine Eye Institute and the UW Institute for Protein Design. In her time at UW
Medicine, Abbey helped to raise more than $140M to advance research, patient care and education
priorities. Previously, Abbey has worked in program management and development roles at Southeast
Effective Development (SEED), Camp Fire Central Puget Sound, the Washington State Arts Commission
and the Eugene Glass School.
 
Abbey is the immediate Past President of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) –
Advancement Northwest Chapter. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Western Washington University,
and a master’s degree in arts administration and a certificate in nonprofit management from the
University of Oregon. Born in Montana and raised in the Pacific Northwest, Abbey loves to be active —
be it sailboat racing, exercising, or playing outdoors with her family.
